Statement on Procurement Irregularities in Siaya County

9th June 2023

The Impeachment of Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol has brought to light the thin line between Deputy Governor and procurement. As an Association, we are concerned as to the claims that public procurement was unprocedural carried out leading to loss of funds.

To this effect, it also means that there are public sector suppliers who colluded with procurement officers.

In this regard, we are asking the EACC to proceed and clean up public procurement in the county and should it be vindicated that the Deputy Governor actually influenced the process, we look forward to prosecution of the corrupt suppliers.

Thank you

Secretary General
